Our Guide to Academic Achievement

The Student Handbook
Academic Year-Grading
The passing grade is 70%. The academic year is comprised of 4
marking periods (quarters). The permanent record mark, which is the
student’s final grade in a subject, is determined by adding 4/5 of
the four marking period averages to 1 /10 of the student’s midterm
and final examination grades in that subject.
Progress Reports
Toward the middle of each marking period, progress reports will be
mailed home to the parents indicating a student’s proficiencies
and/or deficiencies.
Report Cards
Report cards are issued four times during the school year, one after
each of the first three marking periods and a fourth which is mailed
home to parents after final examinations in June.
Parent - Teacher Conferences
As a further means of reporting progress to parents/ guardians,
there will be a Parent/Guardian - Teacher meeting subsequent to both
marking period I and II. These meetings are designed to involve the
parent and teacher more directly in the formal education of the
student.
